Stilted, scripted boring read copy is not warm or friendly. You are not like the rest of the herd of video producers, talking at or even above the audience right?  When collecting your clips, you also need to video with the look of the final edit in mind.  You have the finished product story board in your head and are assembling it mentally in the field for mixing and final post production.

This is a ski video I made this weekend for one more in the community series to help folks that have never been to Northern Maine to see what it "looks" like first hand.  I have ten more asseembled in my head that slowly as time allows will be shot, mixed, uploaded.   And they have a similiar format, a consistency that is familiar to the follower or new viewer. mooers realty logo, maine community videoCommunity videos help brand you at the local go to, the community leader in real estate but also deep involvement in your town or city.

Andrew, I have been trying to make videos of each area that I optimize but oh my it is harder than it looks.  To begin with I tried taking them of myself talking about the area and in one word BORING.  Now I have been trying to take videos of the areas as I talk about the area.  My husband thought my words sounded great but he hated the shakey video.  So I'm back to the drawing board.  Any ideas??

As for shakey video, use a tripod Marchel. Short clips not long drawn out ones work best.  Means edits though and the early ones take more time. Later they will come quicker because you shot knowing what would be the sequence in the edit. It is good you are trying. Everyone's first ones are boring, amatuerish. The area ones if you just capture the people, places, activities don't require much on your part..just be the eyes and ears of the community and post it! It won't be boring if you cover stuff you like and are at anyway. And the group or event planners in your area appreciate it too! Makes you look big in civic pride for the area you serve!

Andrew, I'm trying to walk around as I talk so I'm not just showing the same picture. I noticed that you did some of that on your video but it wasn't all shaky like mine. I guess it just takes practice. Now if the sun would just come out I would go try again.
