Maine Real Estate For Sale !

Who Says Real Estate Brokers Don't Have a Sense Of Humor?

nation's house, whitehouse washington dcThree contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the White House
in D.C.; One from Illinois one from Tennessee and a third from Kentucky.

They all go with a White House official to examine the fence.

The Tennessee contractor takes out a tape measure and does some
measuring, then works some figures with a pencil.
'Well', he says, 'I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for
materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me.'

The Kentucky contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then
says, 'I can do this job for $700. $300 for materials, $300 for my
crew and $100 profit for me.'

The Illinois contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the
White House official and whispers, '$2,700.'

The official, incredulous, whispers back, 'You didn't even measure like
the other guys. How did you come up with such a high figure?'

The Illinois contractor whispers back, '$1000 for me, $1000 for you,
mooers realty real estate office, houlton maine real estate agencyand we hire that guy from Kentucky to fix the fence.'

 'Done!' replies the government official.

And that my friends, is how it all works ! ! !  But Maine Senator Snowe And Collins in the US Senate will weed thru the red tape and wasteful spending!

Funny story, I especially liked the part about the Maine senators weeding through wasteful spending.  Didn't they just sign the $780 Billion "stimulus package" (the biggest SPENDING bill ever)?  Which part of the $1000 for the fence do you think they got to sign the bill.

Nothing against Maine's senators, I'm just so disgusted by this whole idea that the government is the only entity that can save us.  That is so not the idea on which this country was founded.  Funny story, though.

That liberal sellout Snowe is a disgrace to the republican party.  You will not be able to spend your way out of this. All she and the other two did was ensure economic disaster for our children and probably thier children. Hope she can sleep at night.

Now about those $4000 toliet seats and $500 hammers.  I haven't found any of those at any home improvement store in my area.

Richard...I was surprised too.  I just listened to a talk show here in Bangor Maine while I was down for a high school tournament game.  One caller said she raised her family across the street from a single mom that had boy friends come and go and the neighbor's kids were always at her house..with her help getting  raised along with her own family.  So she figured her taxes went to support the neighbor's welfare way of life..her job being to stay at home and crank out kids from four different fathers. Now she told the call in show audience, she feels like her tax dollars are being used with all this borrowing to bail out the rich.  America..where the middle class carries the load. Much of the stimulus spending won't hit until 2010, 2011 and I fear the rush to enact such a huge "do something, do anything right now" approach will lead to more of the same legislation when it misses the target. I can hear politicians saying, "well that bill was put together too quickly with no clear vision and passed in 30 day. And we just did not address A, B and C so we now know we need to have anoher bailout to make the first one effective blah blah blah.  Hang on, the water's going to ge pretty deep before we get to the other side.

Andrew, this is such a funny story, and I am sure there is some truth to it in all forms of government.  I think that's how a lot of deals are worked.
