You're a REALTOR...Which Means Just List And Sell Property Right? Nooooo....More Than That!

As a REALTOR, in addition to listing and selling real estate you wear many, many other hats and have several other jobs. 

In addition to listing/selling a home, land, farm, waterfront or business listing, you need to be active in your community working on civic projects.  Why? You make your living here, you need to be putting back into the community and contributing your energy and ideas to make the place better than it was before you.  Another job beside volunteering consistently thru your local rotary, elks, kiwanis, masons or other church groups, is as a public relations, chamber of commerce type person for your town, city, county and state.  You blog on what is so special about your area. You educate others who have never been here what the area is like on line and thru mailings, brochures at tourist information centers.

Another job a REALTOR holds town is as a counselor to buyers, sellers, renters and keeping deals alive while being creative to making the transaction happen.  You need to know about financing options thru banks and seller financed methods of getting the real estate to close. Because you are dealing with human beings with feelings, fears, hopes and dreams, you guide that process starting by being a good listener.  mooers realty,houlton maine real estate broker,andrew mooersYou put yourself in the shoes of the seller, buyer and situation.  Sometimes you are a referee keeping upset buyers and sellers that are angry or discourage apart and upbeat by walking a tight rope of monkey in the middle. You are a diplomat, a leader, a caring person with empathy. You come up with options or suggestions based on your experience and with the information you have or need to have to make the sale happen around the limitations you have to work with. 

Misunderstandings and misinformation can make the process less than rosy and also derail a sale so you are the orchestra leader.  So when you tell some one you are an ethical, hard working REALTOR you can explain what job you have and the many hats you wear to do that job and others in your community. Sure you take super images of the property, and showcase the area with extra help from well written informative copy and backed up by video, maps, etc. But in addition a REALTOR has many other jobs to perform in making their area a better place to live, work and play.

Good to check our job description once in awhile..and to make sure we are still wearing all those hats. Sitting in the office seat that buyers and sellers fill is helpful too.  Just sit on the other side of your desk (not that you are in your office much if you are out showing and beating the bushes) but this will give you a whole new perspection from the clients eyes.

I LOVE it when I hear people say... "My Agent..." about me! To me it means a whole lot more than listing and showing... inherent in that term is the word TRUST... and it means the world to me.
