Lifestyle...Thinking You Were Put Here To Be A Somebody..To Get Attention.

maine real estate, small town living, mooers realty

Getting noticed...do you dream of large homes with maids, staff and a garage full of cars designed to impress others? Think you are special, put on earth to be awed, sought after for advice and your presence?

Have an attitude and need attention? Are you a gold digger? Do you want to live in a gated wealthy snobby community and is your life about money..only money? Think you were always destined for greatness? You don't strive to keep up with the Jones...that you are the Jones.  Translation...You are NOT built for living in a Maine rural community. Impressing others and having the latest material items is not what living in the Maine country is all about.  It's about helping others, serving your community, not calling attention to yourself.  And your kids are watching. Do you want to be among the elite or just down to earth, who you are imperfections and all?  Do you think you are who's who and that your time is the most valuable and others better jump and not waste it?  Do you want to raise kids or have an entourage, a closet full of designer clothes? Maine, simple, real, honest living.  Outdoor campfires, picnics, paddling a kayak.  Downhill skiing on a Maine mountain or cross country over a rolling field. We get excited hiking a mountain trail and seeing three deer drinking from a stream, enjoying a sunrise on a Maine lake with hot coffee and a family of loons paddling by. We attend and get excited to help out at a church bean supper for a family that was burned out or struggling with cancer.  Is Maine for you? It is not about who you know...it's not about being exclusive...it's about others.  Come for a day, stay a life time.  You won't need alot of money...that's not what impresses people in "Vacationland".

Andrew,

My Grandfather's family is all from Maine.  With a name like Michaud, where else would they be from?

I love Maine.  I've only visited once, but would like to go back to my family's roots.

And to answer your question, yes, I was put here for a purpose, but it wasnt' for conspicuous consumption.

Looks like Maine is a nice place to live.  I did hear it gets a lot of snow (lol)!  Happy New Year.

Andrew - I've have spent much time in Maine and you described it perfectly. There is so much beautiful land in Maine from the coast to in land. Most of the time I was in Burnham, Unity, and Thorndike. Miss it. When the economy gets better I hope to be back.  We are in the Antique business also and we would go to the Auction in Burnham every Sunday until the cost got greater than the income but I am sure things will change. I look forward to the change. Happy New Year

Great post!  My husband and I would love to travel there someday, and you make it sound so wonderful, we are going to definitely do it!  Thanks!

Jason...funny to read comments.  The inspiration came from watching  the Housewives Of Atlanta GA...and five divas all trying to out do each other..they openly wanted to be mirror mirror on the wall and indicated all that mattered was money, flaunting it, having more of it, and making sure they were number one, noticed and what was outlined above.  Good questions...neat to see comments from folks that read the posts...haven't you noticed some that miss the whole post?

I think you got a lot of the "love to visit" because of your last question.  "Is Maine for you?"

They completely ignored the main body of the post.

Mike..you are right! Essense of living in Maine..down to earth, not flashing or attention getting..working hard in a community to make it better helping others.  We get excited about a bean supper at a church, visiting with the neatest people who tranplant and grew up here.
