Found growing along Maine rivers and brooks in early spring...you want to get them before they get mature.
Before the black flies discover you wandering along the stream and river banks.
A company in Lewiston Maine cans them...wonder if other Active Rainers have some particular local favorite delicacies?
Am not the pickled hogs feet kinda guy...try to stay away from floating food in a giant jar by the cash register of some corner grocery even though have a sense of adventure and my tonsils still in place.
Just the principle of watching them open the big jar and reaching in with tongs..(YIKES).
The only hassle with fiddleheads is cleaning them from the brown flakes that need to be blown out before steaming them. Here (handing you a fok loaded with a big helping of steaming fiddleheads) Try some......(munch munch)
