Sounds like you've got something for everyone up there in Maine.  I've had friends and family relocate to Maine, some to enjoy like along the shore in Kennebunkport, others to live like Thoreau and head to the woods - one recurring theme is that they're all very happy with life in Maine.

Good morning Andy. I just closed on a mortgage in Northern Maine. The home was surrounded by nearly 100 acres, there appraiser found plenty of comps to make the transaction work, but the comps were in three different towns.

JP ... Aroostook County is the size of CT, your entire state and add in Rhode Island on the scales to even them out. But for the number of people, there is the different. 11 per mile. So the comps have to come from three towns, not from just one. Because you have only so many sales when 45, 136 folks, etc live in that 6x6 mile township. Except for a few on the border with a river boundary towns, a handful of half townships, all the towns are for the most part 6x6 miles square... like brownies in the pan.
