Spotted A Few Active Rain Real Estate Agents, Brokers You Are So Glad Are NOT In Your Market?

Punching the time clock at the Active Rain blogging factory... as you work the platform, hammer out the blog posts on real estate related topics, you meet a lot of players.

local maine parade watchers

Movers and shakers, and even slackers in the real estate industry.

And some Active Rain members you rub shoulders and converse with almost daily.

Others, you have never had the pleasure of a continuous engagement, back and forth direct sharing.

But you are aware of them, their work, style, personality and even humor or lack of.

Out of the corner of your eye you are picking up information.

Forming an impression as their blogging posts radiate. As they try to entice you to come in to their blogging tent to make a comment, acknowledge them. It is no different than a real estate agent or broker in a local community where a property owner has not had an experience in a sale or listing yet. But based on the clean car, number of property signs, the layout size and approach of your ad. How fast you list and then screw on SOLD sign riders, they have an opinion.

Without the two of you ever shaking hands, sharing words of any kind.

They know, they sense, they see and study. Sometimes subconsciously, other times more intently when they are approaching the need for real estate services. To list, sell something with a property title recorded, describing it in the local registry of deeds.

The Active Rain member you admire, learn from on this platform might not be such a Johnny or Jane Fun To Go To if they practiced real estate in your market. Because they are way way better, run a tighter real estate operation in this, this or that area. Your friend on AR where it is warm and friendly, cozy might not be so much fun to do marketing battle with wielding a saber with the "R" on it in your local zip code.

We are all thirsty, hungry for new, more efficient ways to deliver the information about the local area we serve, the property real estate listings we market.

We are here on the AR campus to learn from others in real estate trenches in varied markets where no two are identical, exactly the same. Have anyone you are especially glad they do not practice real estate in your market because of their skills, success? Who, why? There are the areas where there is weakness in your real estate marketing operation to work on. The wrinkles, the slack that needs adjusting, more attention dedicated to the listing and sell dog and pony.  Maine, if you come here, better have practiced your waving. We use video in Maine real estate and local area marketing in a big way.

I enjoyed reading your post. I agree there are many members that I have as associates who are in other markets with better google presence.

Good morning Andrew,

Like Ginny..I have found AR was like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It is an amazing resource and I have learned so much from the members. I've just done the numbers from 2008 - 2011 when I joined and my market share has done nothing but climb upwards!!

Andy, getting introduced to ActiveRain definitely opened up the business a lot, and continues to be a prime source of information. As for the photo is this like Where's Waldo? for finding the ActiveRain member?

Gita .. This kind of stalking is okay... Google them, do the same platform dance but customize to fit your style, approach and that matches your market. Not much new that has not been tried before in other markets and the US, Canada is a pretty big real estate playground that offers lots of professionals to stalk.

Barbara ... We are here to learn. Share what works well, ask for help on where we are in the dark, in unfamiliar territory, venturing out on cracking thin ice.

Ginny ... You know you have been here along time when you bump in to a blog post on line and think gee, that sounds interesting. And as you read realize whoa, I wrote this. But you edit it because in the beginning the centering the image, tagging SEO experience had not been developed fully. So you "new and improve it", bolt on a few after market links, add some more horsepower tricks learned from experts here on the AT campus. I will always be a newbie, a beginner, eager to learn.

Dorie ... Another pot of gold.

Ed ... Waldo ... Here's the one with the blue and gold "R".

Andy, True!  We're forming opinions both positive and negative with every interaction, both on AR, Facebook, etc.  There are people ON our referral list, and others not because of posts and comments that don't reconcile with what we want for our clients.

Liz and Bill .... Slowly by reading, following it is amazing all the little details we DO know about someone that we don't really know. I am glad you are not in my market because you do it right, put lots of efforts all the time. Barbara Todaro would be another that I love dearly, but more so because she is a friend and not a stiff professional for competition. Thought this blog post would highlight folks that are good at this, this and this. But glad they are in another time zone, zip code. That's the way the blogging ball bounces, cookie with the "R" crumbles. (Smile)

Very good post Andrew and more true than many realize.  We get a glimpse of our cohorts here in the Rain.  Opinions are formed before we ever set eyes on each other (it that ever happens at all).

Posted by Charita Cadenhead, Serving Jefferson and Shelby Counties (Alabama) (Keller Williams Realty) almost 8 years ago

Charita ... You pick up a lot that you did not know was absorbed, but when asked you and I know lots about the bloggers we bump in to. The buyers and sellers in your real estate market know lots about us while we scurry. And don't realize we are observed, noticed. In a good way hopefully. It is like a neighbor you say you never took the covered casserole dish over to when they moved in that kept to themselves. But after five years of living next to them you noticed they were night owls, raised dogs that barked all the time, had a Dennis the Menace they did not rein in or raise so well and their taste in music was the absolute opposite of yours. All picked up without direct contact. Out of the corner of your eye.

Margaret... you are not wearing blinders, are no plow horse and aware. Like they say in hockey, turn your head, swivel it and see the ice. All the possible scenarios coming down the pike.

Bryan .... hungry, thirsty to learn. This is the place to graze.

Patricia .... You are playing on key, with perfect pitch on that one. Thanks for popping in.

Lyn ... Keep pedaling to stay ahead. Everything changes in the blink of an eye and 10 and 2 on the real estate wheel. And the neat aspect of 214292, there are all the flavors of real estate agents, brokers, REALTORS ... I network with AR members who have heavy land sales, not just homes and houses.

Evelyn ... There you go again with the four letter word. Everything you touch turns to it. (groan) There is a buffet, smorgasbord of information to graze, munch on. Add to the mix too with your own covered dish to the pot luck gathering of knowledge, tips, experiences too.

Patricia ... Aw gee (turning ten shades of pink, then red, looking down, moving toe back and forth in sand nervously) Eager to learn trumps actual talent, Hard work and attention to detail is something any of us can do if we love our job, the people we meet along the way.

Posted by Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573, Northern Maine Real Estate-Aroostook County Broker (MOOERS REALTY) almost 8 years ago

Andy, Being in Active Rain has been better than attending a lot of those seminars on real estate that I used to attend. One can develop some great skills from all the lessons learned her in AR, but we certainly need to put them into action, simply, because we are always judged by our Actions.

Jerry ... The quality of our work, how we shake and bake, rock and roll in the real estate dog and pony... that's the key. Throw your wholeself in. Move it all about. Hey.
