Maine soap box derby racing is a chance for a boy or girl to not have to wait until they are sixteen to drive a car.
The Maine program has been strong and the Houlton Maine venue in particular extremely successful. Holding down the title of the nation's largest local soap box derby race five years
in a row with approaching 200 race cars in the field. The big race for the state of Maine derby program is June 18th in Houlton Maine on Derby Hill
. The "Thrill of the Hill" is run on the engineered, specially made Derby Hill used just for local races, spring and fall rallies. The kids do slide on it in the winter too. Here are some images of what the flavor of the
