Adding A Kink To Your Real Estate Marketing Hose To Shoot Further, Stronger.

You know how you are washing the side of the house, a car and the water's pressure not quite enough to blast the dirt and grime off?

Do you ever put your thumb over the end of the hose, or add a gun or small kink in the hose to build up the pressure, add force? In radio AM broadcasting it was called nulling your signal from the four legged, self supporting 404' foot stick out behind the transmitter studios. Another smaller 125' foot guy wired stick in its shadow used to reshape the pattern of the radiation, propagation, carrier wave. It's purpose to pull away from a direction with just trees, wildlife.

To "kink", push your broadcast message further in to an area rich with listeners, advertisers.

Or to avoid stepping, walking on a signal in a market there before you fired up the transmitter.

Blogging is like that and your real estate marketing message starts by saying "Self, what is my audience, who is in it I want, need to reach, touch, connect with?" Not just trying to please them all because we live in more and more of a country of choice. Not just vanilla and chocolate ice cream any more. Have you got any pistachio or banana back in that dairy bar?

Each and every real estate property listing is from a pie of many amazing colors. You list and sell homes, that's it. No large land acreages, no waterfront vacation cottages or mom and pop business listings in your record collection. Homes, houses. But what kind? Victorians, ultra modern, luxury or rental income cooperatives, condos? House boat homes?

Markets within markets and if you don't put a kink, add a little smaller but more accurate stream to hit with a punch, your message has static, weaves, drifts in and out.

Because of other pretty similiar messages bombarding the same real estate buyer and seller in a sea of sameness.

A Barry Manilow listener is not after the same tunes a NIN fan is looking for Trent Reznor to rock out in the background on the bumper to bumper grid lock drive time to work. Or making, enjoying a mexican omelet on the weekend with the first cup of black coffee as you scan the thicker weekend newspaper edition.

What is your audience that reflect the listings you carry? And do you have plenty of just like it real estate inventory when the lead reindeer Rudoph property sells? As back up listings ammo. To keep loading the property torpedo tubes to keep 'em coming, selling. As Larry would remind "Git 'er dunnn". How big is your transmitter, what do you broadcast? How do you do it to be helpful, memorable? Set yourself apart from the rest cranking out backyard signals too? Maine, a place where your head and heart finally agree on something. Get here quick as you can.

Andy - Interesting concept about kinking the hose to enhance, direct, empower real estate marketing. I try to get my thumb on it.

I think all folks wearing the "R" need to think about a small Honda generator being all you have for power. As you plug in a skill saw the engine rpms dip, the motor labors. Add a power hungry appliance and it could stall out, blow a fuse. But if you monitor what you tap in to the power but use more efficient devices, lighter weight media that is creative and hits someone as different, fun, refreshing, then your little Honda can get that real estate "house" built quickly. Your business, your personal energy and resources make you that little red, black Honda. Pass me that 5 gallon gas can will you Glenn? (Pointing)

Andy, interesting analogy to placing the thumb on the hose to get more pressure. In our busienss we do the same by putting out the word on the Internet such as we do here on ActiveRain, and the more we spray the better the job, both with the car wash and with getting the Internet consumer to hear our words.

AR is like a power washer behind the media stream. Stand back, it's going to blow, blast further, wide, longer. Marketing needs reach and frequency.
