Maine Real Estate For Sale !

The Naked Truth Of It Is The Next Door Maine Real Estate Neighbor Is A Nudist.

Mowing his lawn nude while you are trying to show a Maine property can pose a challenge. Not in the winter maine state police cruisersso much snowblowing the driveway(smiling) but during the long string of sunny summer weather Maine has been enjoying.

Ever had a property listing, real estate where you wished the neighbor would put some clothes on? My first experience with the situation.

Nudists, sun worshippers in their birthday suits.. have other Active Rain bloggers, real estate brokers run in to the problem of lack of clothing with their sellers, buyers, neighboring property owners?

The Maine police called during a 4th of July barbecue and property owner told it's not illegal to be nude on your own property. Wondering about if you have minor children, exposed to it whether on the nudist property or not and the legal ramifications. Any thoughts, experience with nudity in a real estate sale, or the marketing of property where buyers think twice about having a neighbor that does little laundry? We expose the property, the community it is in but never had to wrestle with exposure of another kind involved in the real estate marketing.

I don't think the police would be so polite here.  Even on your own property, if clearly visible to others I don't think that would go over well!

I wonder what they do in the Black Fly season?  This is a funny problem, but a problem none the less.  Imagine it the other way, what if you got the owner to put clothes on when you showed the property...the buyer likes and buys...then the buyer, now owner realizes that the next door neighbor is a nudist and proud of it.  (Frankly most nudists have no right to be proud of their nudity, but that is my subjective opinion).

Now you are faced with a very unhappy buyer/owner.  I think you are better off disclosing the nudity issue up front.   A quick look at our rules and regulations and nudity is not one of the issues we are prohibited from discussing, like pedophiles and HIV. Good luck and don't loose your shirt over the situation.

Andrew:  I just came back from a vacation in Maine.  I hope he has bug spray on those delicate areas.  Naked and scratching is not a good combination.

L&B.. That was my take too. If my kids are next door, I don't want them exposed to the neighbor, but I realize property rights, etc. Minors need protection. Never had the situation before.

Larry..The neighbor might be down a pint during black fly season. Or wears lots and lots of Avon skin so soft that is suppose to repel them.  Hear you on who should or should not be a nudist. And will not get my knickers in a knot over it.

Neighbors can be a problem--whatever whacky habits they have. Good luck with this!

Lee Ann... Picking and grinning music making the kind of stratching out the notes I like to hear, see done. Had a lake cottage showing once where the buyer loved the place, would have bought...right up until we started hearing from one guest at the camp next door three sheets to the wind hammered and drunk and obnoxious. He said to the buyer to be he did not know from Adam "you sure are not to want us for neighbors". He was right. Had to show the place when he was sleeping it off, gone and when an empty deck chair situation existed.

their naked butts would quickly be in jail here.....and their names would be on a list of sexual offenders......that's terrible....

When is Black Fly season?  Thinking about a visit, but don't need that!

What a funny story, guess we don't that issue here, for the most part.   I know there is a nudist camp in Calhan just East of Denver, but really not an issue here in the City.    Black Fly season sounds like a HUGE issue if you are not covered!    It was a bit humid last night, while chatting with the neighbors in the street, and got 4 mosquito bites!
Can't imagine all over the whole body....   LOL

Susan... My thoughts but freedom of expression, private property rights, put up a fence roll thru my head too. I still struggle with seeing a burning American flag and thinking that should not be legal, a punishable offense but ...

L& B...Black flys dig in around end of May, two weeks they are fun and then plane out. Birds, fish start to do their thing.

Joan... Not sure of any nudist colonies in Maine. Maybe exposed extremeties, snow and Jack Frost cure the year round hobby of being without clothes. More of a southern state hobby, yard sport.

Andy, Excellent.  Was thinking more in the late September, early October time frame.

I'll be checking back to see if anyone else has ever had this scenario.  Personally I could care less, but I see where it could make some people a little uncomfortable.  I haven't noticed too many nudists here, like you said, clothes in Maine are more of a practical matter and not necessarily a lifestyle choice.

Wow, did you introduce yourself to the neighbor? How close was his house to the property being viewed? It is a first for me that is for sure. A comment stated we are not allowed to discuss pedophiles. I am pretty sure if we are aware of a registered sex offender it needs to be disclosed. I will have to check on that. Gotta love real estate, no two days are alike. :)
