Houlton Maine Girl Scout Cookie Sales Are Up...Way Way Up Since My Neighbor Moved In.

My real estate office is 32 feet from my house on 69 North Street in Houlton Maine.

And my neighbor Kim whogirl scout cookies, houlton maine moved here with her husband who is a US Border Patrol agent was a girl scout as a kid.

So from since we sold the family the home next door five years ago, the size of the local girl scout program increased five times!

Today a big truck arrives with pallets of girl scout cookies. Lots of them. The next door neighbor's garage was chalk full of boxes, more boxes of girl scout cookies.

And as the neighbor with connecting driveways, it has been like LAX airport with parents, little girls arriving to pick up boxes..big boxes of girl scout cookies.

In and out and seemingly like the air drop in Haiti, boxes have quickly been put in to the distribution network. Car doors opening, little girls laughing girl scout cookies, houlton maine kidsand skipping out of vehicles, moms and dads, big brothers and sisters helping load boxes, and more boxes in to the rear end of pickups, trunks. And as quick as one car leaves, another two arrive for the cookie orders.

You know it's spring is in the air and the close to 50 degree temperatures, strong sunshine and cobalt blue sky giving you a good feeling. All caused because of kids and cookies.

As I did my real estate dog and pony show I thought I should capture a few stills to show you girl scouting is alive and well in Houlton Maine. The big mover, the people's choice used to be thin mints. Neighbor Kim Keehn says those are a close second, but in Houlton Maine the new powerful girl scout cookie top seller is Caramel Delight. I have a particular weakness, have been know to "kill" or polish off a box of the short bread or Trefoils. Every cookie has a mission...to help girls do great things. Meet the cookie.

Wow!!!  Yummmmmm.....we don`t have those flavours here in Canada...they sound awesome....it would be so dangerous for my diet (and my pocketbook) if I knew a garage full of cookies was only a few feet away.  Good luck to all the girls and their fundraising efforts.  Best wishes, Margret :-)

Naw...how can you say no to a kid with an order form. The Keehn family have been a neat addition to the area. When 911 first happened, Houlton Maine saw 70 new customs, immigration, border patrol agents get assignments on the Canadian - US border to tighten up the drag net to make the country, world safer. That first wave meant 70 new kids in our local schools. New ideas, talents, experiences "moved here" with that influx. New people to a small Northern Maine town is a very good thing..for both the people already here, and those moving here. So Jennifer, how many pallets...I mean boxes of which 11 flavor cookies and Kim put your down for?
