Vacations...You Earn Them, Need Them, Learn Much When You Leave Your Home Town.

I run into folks that are considering a move to Maine and often they say the reason is they had no free cruising carribean, taking vacation cruisestime to live where they have been parked or stuck on the planet previously.

No vacations for seven years kinda of pace. Now I love my job, have a full schedule as a full time single dad, real estate business owner and a 300 acre hobby farm on the side. But darn it, a week's vacation is not going to upset your apple cart. They are a needed must do with family. Give you a a whole new change of scenery, fresh outlook. My familv's preferred vacation is climbing on a cruise ship, hitting three or four islands and enjoying all  cruising offers. Green water, lots of food, friendly staff from all over the world making the trip fun, memorable. Sit in the sun and read a book while the surf pounds on a white sand beach. Yeah, sure that's no fun. You'd rather be at work right? All work and no play makes Jack Real Estate Guy boring, limited, out of touch with the rest of the world that takes their job serious, but can have some fun because they need it, earned it and enjoy family trips to explore new areas. Meeting new folks doing the same thing you are...getting away for a few days for some r and r, rest and relaxation.

Right now, I'm killing time waiting for the troops to rise and and shine to climb on an airplane in Portland Maine to head to Miami to make our home for a week on a Carnival cruise ship, the Triumph.

Hectic to tie up loose ends to head out on a vacation but makes them all that much more delicious when you make a habit of taking them. Dollar for dollar cruises are your best vacation budget stretcher and everything once you get on the boat is paid for..the shows, dinners, scencery, everything but drinks and gambling if those are you passions. Here's last year's cruise video below and will post another as the week unfolds. I'll bring you back  a t-shirt.  Where did you go this year on your vacation? 6800 views and climbing on last's years trip. Watch this maine realtor association, mar, nar, national association of realtors, mooers realtysimple video about the trip..and if you are still dragging your feet thinking video is not going to catch on or really that popular, remember this. 98 million on line views for video last month alone is something to ponder if you are not using real estate video in your marketing operation.

When you are at the end of your life reflecting back, you will never regret or say "Gee..I wished I had not gone on those family vacations..." You will wished you went on more while you could, when you were healthy. You have the time to make trips a priority to enjoy the world around us. Your kids are watching too and you teach them the habit of work hard, but have some fun along the way. Budget for vacations for your mental health and for guaranteed fun in the sun. Yeah mon. You be cruisin' dat for sure.

Konnie...grab you sun screen, throw a bag together and we'll hold the gang plank in Miami. There is always room for one more cruiser. Plan that trip. Four kids here too but they will have a hoot of a time. 600 kids on the boat, water slides, snorkling, feeding the fish and sting ray. You've have a lousy time. Half the fun booking it, knowing in three months, two months, one week you are doing something good for you. And afterwards, put those underwater camera pictures on the fridge so the kids smile everytime they reach for the milk or catsup.

Being a single mom for 13 years, I travel with my 3 boys no matter what every year.  Our last trips: Florida, Central California, Italy, Western and Eastern Carribean Cruises, Mexico.  So many places to see and discover.  The best memories and relationships are built during our vacations.  Life teaches you that we need to enjoy life and our family while we are here, we don't know what tomorrow will bring.

High five for Julie. You know what I'm talking about. Finding new routes the trick. Mexican Riverias, Panama Canals, Europe and even cruises to Maine's coast.

Konnie: No vacation in 5 years, yikes!  I go on about 5 vacations a year not including the 2-3 day weekend getaways.  I am a big fan of Grand Cayman Islands! I go on cruises all the time and I highly recommend them to everyone.

Andrew,

This is the first year I didn't get away to someplace hot and I'm really feeling it.

There are deals...they do not want an empty boat. And unless you are a real hard core gambler, alcoholic or shopaholic, you can go cheaply.  Vacation, especially with family while you have family is a priority to budget for. Get a deal, shop hard, but you work hard and earn the trip away! Back and refreshed and raring to go. Had fun in the sun for a week but back to work!
