Maine... Friendly Hardworking God Fearing People With Family Values. Can't beat the scenery, clean water/ air and great outdoors either. But the best part of living in Maine is what we DON'T have..no crime, no traffic, no smog or pollution, no long lines at the local stores. People in Maine make eye contact, hold doors open for you, say hello, let you out of the parking lot into the roadway in front of them. Let you go first at the post office if you appear to be a little rushed and needing to get somewhere quickly. Mainer's carry jumper cables and look for opportunities to lend a helping hand. Maine people are respectful if they are horseback riding, atv or snowsledding to make sure they stay on the trail. They carry in / carry out when they hike Baxter, Acadia And The Allagash Wildness Waterway. Mainers keep it the way they found it and educate their children to have respect for others, their opinions, their values, their property and their surroundings. Mainers are good stewards...adopting the attitude to give it to your kids in better shape than you received in from your parents. Its an attitude that is learned with hard work and not expecting someone else to do it for you or that no one elses owes you a living. Its an attitude of being grateful for how fortunate we all are...and how in the blink of an eye, it could all change and suddenly be stormy weather with a sky full of dark clouds. Mainer's help each other with barn raisings, with next week the barn being done at my house..let's do yours this week kind of attitude. Kind and not able to stand watching you do the work...grabbing a shovel to help clear out the snow filled walkway ...especially in looking after the elderly. Maine is appreciating the little things like sunsets on a lake after a hard day's work.
